Welcome to Thursday Travel to Design, where each week we travel to exotic locations in search of fabulous finds.  I was fortunate enough to travel to Africa twice, once for a trip to Egypt, Tanzania and Kenya and later to South Africa.  Both trips were absolutely glorious. Kenya for me was a place where I passed through on my way to an extensive safari in Tanzania.  However during my time in Kenya, I can tell you that from its beaches to the bustling city of Nairobi, Kenya is a must do on the list of anyone traveling to this part of the world.

Arriving in Nairobi, I was a bit awestruck, after being in a truck traveling on bumpy dirt roads Nairobi truly feels like a metropolitan city, although there are still dirt roads LOL!

When in Kenya, beyond, spending much of your time relaxing on safari, be sure to take in the local restaurants and shops.  If you like strong coffee as much as I do, Kenyan coffee is addictive, so bring lots back home!

As far as items to bring home, the local shops are filled with locally made, one of a kind items that are beyond affordable.

Accommodations can be basic or 5 star, but don’t think tented camps are slumming it. Tented camps in Africa are usually pure luxury and on the high end of accommodations in which the lodging is ultra deluxe and you are up close and personal with animals in the bush.

While in Africa I stayed in hotels that were part of the Serena resort chain.  A simple search on the internet will yield all your perfect place to stay!
