~ Hi there! On HGTV's Hit Reality TV Show DESIGN STAR, I sewed, painted & sawed my way through some pretty tough challenges, but design doesn't have to be hard! I believe in combining simple, timeless design ingredients to create what I call "Design Recipes". I hope you find this to be a truly awesome resource. www.design-recipes.com contains design tips, articles, podcasts, how-to videos and of course design recipes galore! I invented Design Recipes simply because I love sharing my ideas! For years I collected design magazines, tagged and clipped pages with inspirational images & did nothing! That's because I didn't have the resource information so I could purchase the beautiful furniture I was seeing on the pages of the magazines! With Design Recipes, I SHARE how the room was executed, giving you the basic design tools needed for you to recreate the same look on your own and best of all I give you all of the resource information! Enjoy!

≈ Comments Off on Fan Question: Was NYC Interior Designer Cathy Hobbs on The Nate Berkus Show? HINT: Yes!
Answer: Yes. New York City based ASID Interior Designer/Home Stager Cathy Hobbs was invited on The Nate Berkus Show as a real estate staging expert, offering national viewers tips on how to sell their homes. The Nate Berkus Show asked Cathy Hobbs (CSP Real Estate Stager/Trainer) to stage a home in Connecticut. It was an absolute blast! Dana, a Nate Berkus Show viewer, wrote into the show, to report her mother for a “Design Crime” of Paint Gone WILD!! When Cathy arrived in Connecticut, she helped the homeowner implement what she calls her “key tips to staging” NEUTRALIZING, DE-CLUTTERING, AND DE-PERSONALIZING.
CATHY HOBBS STAGING TIPS:
NEUTRALIZING : The goal is to create a neutral palette so that potential buyers can visualize themselves in the home. Personal paint colors and momentos need to be removed. I love color! But it is easiest for potential home buyers to relate to neutral colors such as taupe.
DE-CLUTTERING: This is huge! When a home is stuffed with oversized or too much furniture, it is difficult for potential buyers to see what a property truly has to offer. Clear the clutter! So that potential buyers can see how spacious each room is.
DE-PERSONALIZING: The reality is, when you place your home on the market, it is no longer your home. It is a product on the market and like other products on the market it will be judged based on presentation and price. In order to make it appeal to the largest number of potential buyers it will need to have wide appeal.
